HCS SB 977 -- PEACE OFFICER TRAINING AND 911 TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPONSOR: Bartle (Jones, 117) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Crime Prevention and Public Safety by a vote of 12 to 0. This substitute authorizes the Director of the Department of Public Safety to promulgate rules and regulations regarding peace officer training. The substitute also revises the training requirements for 911 telecommunicators from 16 hours in a two-year period to 24 hours over a three-year period. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and FY 2009. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill is needed to keep up to date with new training requirements.
